Is the reverse phone lookup free?
Yes. Searching any US phone number on this site is free and requires no registration. You’ll see the number’s city and state of registration, carrier, line type, and community reports at no cost. Optional full background reports are provided by independent third-party services and may require payment on their site.
Where does your information come from?
Directory details come from public North American Numbering Plan records — the official system that assigns area codes and prefixes to carriers and locations. Call reports come from visitors who describe calls they received and tag them as normal, scam, marketing, or automated.
Why doesn’t the page show the caller’s name?
We deliberately do not publish personal information. Public numbering records identify carriers and locations, not individuals. If you need owner details, the “Run Background Search” button leads to a third-party people-search service that maintains its own databases and its own privacy controls.
The location shown seems wrong. Why?
The city shown is the number’s “rate center” — where the number block was originally registered. With mobile phones and number portability, the actual user may live anywhere. Scammers also spoof numbers to display a local area code, so a familiar-looking number is no guarantee the call is local.
How do I report a spam or scam call?
Search the number, scroll to the Reports section on its page, and describe the call. Tag it as scam, marketing, or automated so other visitors see the warning immediately. For serious fraud, also file a complaint at the FTC’s reportfraud.ftc.gov.
Can I have information about my number removed?
Yes — see our Remove My Number page. Because we don’t publish personal details, removal usually means deleting unfair or inaccurate visitor reports, which we review within about 7 days.
How do I block unwanted calls?
On iPhone: open the Phone app, tap the info icon next to the number, and choose “Block Caller.” On Android: long-press the number in your call log and choose “Block/Report spam.” You can also register at donotcall.gov and ask your carrier about their spam-filtering tools.
